Bowerbirds Announce New Album, Tour

Bowerbirds’ “Northern Lights” is somewhere in my top 10 fave songs ever.

Bowerbirds have announced that their new album, The Clearing, will be released March 6, 2012. The first single from that album, “Tuck the Darkness In”, is available for download here. In addition to the album, the band will be touring the US in March and April–I’m stoked to see them at the Independent. You can join me at that gig by purchasing a ticket here at noon PST on December 9th.

The Leisure Society Performs for’s Pop Up Session

The Leisure Society, whose album Into the Murky Water would make my albums of the year list if I were going to do one, is the latest band to perform for a Pop Up Session. The music site partnered with HP this summer for several sessions, including the Slow Club performance in Soho Square below. There’s only one more after the Leisure Society’s Tamesis Dock gig–check out HP’s Facebook for more information.

AND: completely unrelated but equally awesome, catch this new free download from Bowerbirds over at Listen Before You Buy.

Jeepers Creepers

Any holiday that encourages the wearing of crazy costumes is all right by me. That’s probably why Halloween has always been my favorite holiday: the addition of pumpkins, cool decorations, and free candy puts it over the top on the awesomeness scale. And while I’m not currently loving the music from the Halloween party across the street (I don’t want to learn how to “dougie”, thanks), here are some creeptastic alternatives.
